Softball Recap: MacDonald Condor vs. Santa Clara Bruins
MacDonald dropped their record down to 5-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 19-5 to the Santa Clara Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-9 back in March.
MacDonald saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Salceda, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kyleena Stone, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Santa Clara, their win bumped their record up to 8-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
On Santa Clara's side, Jasmine (Jazzy) Ramirez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Ramirez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Averie Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Looking ahead, MacDonald will head out on the road to challenge Saratoga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Condor surely won't give up without a fight. As for Santa Clara, they will welcome Lynbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.29 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
