Basketball Recap: Alhambra Lions vs. Maryvale Panthers
The Alhambra Lions came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Maryvale with a 45-39 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Alhambra also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabel Aguirre, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aguirre has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie A paniagua chavez, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Alhambra pushed their record up to 7-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Maryvale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Carl Hayden Community the next time they take the court. Maryvale will head out to face Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Alhambra will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
