Hoover won the last time they faced Wayne and things went their way on Monday too. Hoover walked away with a 7-2 win over Wayne. That looming 7-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.
Kaylyn Harper made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sadi Wehrle was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ayva Veltri also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only posted a batting average of .208.
The victory made it two in a row for Hoover and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Wayne, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coming up, Hoover will welcome Ripley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover is facing Ripley at the right time seeing as Ripley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wayne, they will head out to take on Chapmanville Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
