Softball Recap: St. Benedict at Auburndale Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

St. Benedict at Auburndale entered their tilt with Arlington on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Tigers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Madison Young was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoie Bernard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Catelyn Cannon also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

St. Benedict at Auburndale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive contests.

St. Benedict at Auburndale's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-13-2.

Looking ahead, St. Benedict at Auburndale will face off against Briarcrest Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Arlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
