Basketball Recap: McLouth Comes Up Short

McLouth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atchison County Tigers. The Bulldogs lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-7 score last time.

Leading Atchison County to victory were Kinzee Bauerle and Kori Wagner. Bauerle almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards, while Wagner posted 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Bauerle's evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

McLouth's loss dropped their record down to 3-13-1. As for Atchison County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLouth will square off against Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy on Friday. As for Atchison County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atchison County is facing Cair Paravel at the right time seeing as Cair Paravel is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
