Volleyball Recap: Dover Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Salem

Dover faced Salem in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Green Wave fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2. The Green Wave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Dover sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-17, 16-25, 25-15, 17-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Dover saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jovie Meeker had 14 digs and six assists. Meeker has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Dover's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Salem, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Dover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Timberlane on the 28th. Salem has also already played their next matchup (against Winnacunnet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
