Football Game Preview: Pacifica Mariners vs. Buena Park Coyotes + Official Tickets

The Pacifica Mariners will take on the Buena Park Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pacifica will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Pacifica is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Woodbridge 55-7. With the Mariners ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Pacifica had a senior duo take command as James Anema threw for 331 yards and five TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes and Ma'Kai Brown gained 190 total yards and a touchdown. Brown also rushed for 139 rushing yards, which is notable because the Mariners are undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Eli Sandoval was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Pacifica didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Woodbridge to a completion percentage of just 36.8%. The Mariners have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Pacifica's defense didn't let Waylon Stone, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. David Carlsson was especially locked on to Woodbridge's QB and sacked him twice. Carlsson's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 104 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Buena Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 10-2 to University.

Pacifica now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Buena Park, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.

Pacifica was able to grind out a solid win over Buena Park when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 45-38. Do the Mariners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coyotes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
