Basketball Recap: Lucas Garcia and Kade Temple Secure Win for Sargent

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, Sargent was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Mancos Bluejays as the Sargent Farmers made off with a 49-25 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Farmers have posted since January 18th.

Sargent was led to victory by Kade Temple and Lucas Garcia. Temple went 10 for 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Garcia posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Temple a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Jones, who put up six points.

Sargent was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Michael Resner and Seth Oakes certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Resner had ten points, while Oakes posted eight points.

Sargent moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Mancos, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Sargent will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Creede at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Mancos, they will be taking part in a tournament against Center at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
