Basketball Recap: Newcomerstown Comes Up Short

Newcomerstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans, falling 75-51. Newcomerstown was down 59-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Tuscarawas Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody May led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Those 22 points gave May a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Kuykendall, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points.

Newcomerstown's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Tuscarawas Valley, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newcomerstown will welcome Conotton Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they will face off against Hiland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hiland will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Tuscarawas Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
