South Fort Myers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lehigh Lightning. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolfpack of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
South Fort Myers took a 1-1 lead headed into the third set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 25-16.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lehigh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaiden Powell, who had 11 aces and five kills. The dominant performance gave Powell a new career-high in aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Fleming, who had 12 kills and nine digs.
South Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Lehigh, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
South Fort Myers will face off against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lehigh, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Gateway Charter at 8:00 a.m.
