Basketball Recap: Mendenhall's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Mendenhall had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 59-54 W against the Brookhaven Panthers. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Panthers are ranked 91st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brookhaven's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was NICHOLAS GAMBLE, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. GAMBLE has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DEMARION CAMERON, who posted 14 points.

Mendenhall's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Brookhaven, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendenhall will be home for the holidays to greet Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brookhaven, they will welcome Humphreys County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
