Recap: JW North Huskies vs. Elsinore Tigers
If The JW North Huskies were feeling good off their 28-6 takedown of the Temescal Canyon Titans last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. JW North took a 42-27 bruising from Elsinore on Friday. The game was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but JW North was blown out by Elsinore in the second.
Defeat or not, JW North got some senior leadership from Carson Branch who picked up 149 receiving yards and four touchdowns and Cameron Shannon who threw for 192 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Branch was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 67 yards.
Elsinore had a senior duo take command as Julian Santoyo rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns and Andrew Irvin gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns.
JW North's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.3 points per game. As for Elsinore, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. JW North will take on Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Elsinore, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Temescal Canyon at 7:00 p.m.
