Softball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-12 to make it ten. They lost 19-1 to the El Dorado Aztecs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.

As for El Dorado, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For El Dorado's part, Emma Villarreal was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Villarreal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Estrada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Coronado will be taking part in a tournament against Burges at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday. As for El Dorado, they will square off against Horizon at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
