While Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Maplewood Panthers on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Royals, who have now won four games in a row.

Brendan Cox made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run.

In other batting news, Thomas Dunaway was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Michael Long was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Maplewood, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
