Basketball Recap: Snow Canyon Comes Up Short

Snow Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Mustangs are ranked 30th).

Despite the loss, Snow Canyon still got an impressive performance from Reggie Mackay, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Issaiah Thompson, who scored ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crimson Cliffs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briton Phillips, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Carroll, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Crimson Cliffs, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snow Canyon will host Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Crimson Cliffs, they will welcome Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crimson Cliffs also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 63.2 points per game.
