Basketball Recap: Freedom Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Riccardo Palombarini and Shaun Fonoti

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freedom can now relate to. They lost 75-54 to the Olympia Titans on Monday. The Patriots have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Freedom had strong showings from Shaun Fonoti, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and six boards, and Riccardo Palombarini, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fonoti a new career-high in assists (four). Juniel Santana also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Olympia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicholas Blake led the charge by going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points. Another player making a difference was James Nowells, who posted nine points.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Olympia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Freedom does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Olympia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-61 win against Oak Ridge on the 5th.
