Softball Game Preview: Springfield Millers vs. Crater Comets

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Crater. The Millers will welcome the Comets at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Springfield's offense. They lost 15-0 to Crater on Tuesday.

For Crater's part, Ady Thayer was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Thayer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Nottingham, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Crater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .955. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Crater has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.
