Soccer Game Preview: Vasquez vs. Lucerne Valley

The Vasquez Mustangs will face off against the Lucerne Valley Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Vasquez knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Lucerne Valley likes a good challenge.

Vasquez's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Academy of Careers & Exploration as Vasquez made off with a 7-0 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by four goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Lucerne Valley was a bit more limited in their game two weeks ago. They came up short against Rim of the World, falling 3-0. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Mustangs couldn't quite close it out.

Vasquez is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five games. As for Lucerne Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
