Baseball Game Preview: Waterford Lancers vs. Woodstock Academy Centaurs

The Waterford Lancers will face off against the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodstock Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Waterford, who comes in off a win.

Waterford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past East Lyme 7-0. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly seven runs.

Meanwhile, Woodstock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Norwich Free Academy. Centaurs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Saturday.

Woodstock Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Nason, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That hit marked the first that Nason has got this season. Another was Hayden Maloney, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Woodstock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Waterford, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Waterford came up short against Woodstock Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
