Softball Game Preview: Columbia Blue Devils vs. Chatham Panthers

The Columbia Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Chatham Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Columbia has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Columbia needed a bit of extra time to put away Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Spartans.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chatham). They put the hurt on Watervliet with a sharp 28-3 victory on Monday. The Panthers have beaten the Cannoneers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cannoneers has come to flipping the script.

Columbia now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chatham, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Columbia skirted past Chatham 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
