Softball Recap: Shelby Triumphs

Shelby won the last time they faced Clear Fork and things went their way on Monday too. The Whippets came out on top against the Colts by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Whippets.

Alyssa Booker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katie Taylor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylee Sturts, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shelby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Shelby's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Clear Fork, they moved to 10-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Colts beat Shelby by a score of 7-1 on Wednesday.
