Basketball Game Preview: Fern Creek Tigers vs. Whitefield Academy Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Fern Creek Tigers challenge the Whitefield Academy Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Fern Creek, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Whitefield Academy's (thus far) undefeated season.

Last Friday, Fern Creek had to suffer through a 66-9 loss at the hands of Bullitt East.

Meanwhile, Whitefield Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Conner on Saturday, taking the game 57-45.

Whitefield Academy's win came from a few key players Fern Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gwynnie Franz, who posted 21 points. The matchup was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Noel Smith was another key player, going 7 for 12 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Fern Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Whitefield Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Fern Creek was taken down by Whitefield Academy 67-29 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Thankfully for Fern Creek, Allison Spieker (who went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc on her way to 48 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time.
