Basketball Recap: Harnett Central Comes Up Short

Harnett Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 68-12 loss at the hands of the Overhills Jaguars. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-9.

It was another big night for Najiha Allen, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds for Overhills. Allen's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paris Autry, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Harnett Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Overhills, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harnett Central and Douglas Byrd will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Overhills, they will venture away from home to face off against Triton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Triton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
