The Daviess County Panthers will head out on the road to take on the South Warren Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Daviess County was able to grind out a solid victory over Breckinridge County, taking the game 8-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Fighting Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Brett Poole was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Poole was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Brodie Tucker looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
Back at the plate, Cameron Rickard was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Daviess County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Breckinridge County only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, South Warren put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against White House as South Warren made off with a 12-5 victory.
The team relied heavily on Ethan Reynolds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jaxen Decker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
South Warren's record is now 3-0. As for Daviess County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went Daviess County's way against South Warren in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Daviess County made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Daviess County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
