Baseball Recap: Oak Park Triumphs

While Oak Park's victory against Hoover wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Tornados 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 27, 2024.

Tyler Kutsch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kutsch was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cyrus Javadi, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Aaron Berro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Oak Park and bumps their season record up to 6-10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Hoover, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.

Oak Park and Hoover could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 707th) will meet Royal (ranked 100th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hoover will take on Muir at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (848 vs. 361).
