Baseball Recap: Monrovia Bulldogs vs. Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monrovia). Everything went their way against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils on Thursday as they made off with a 26-2 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Cameron Fathman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Fathman was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Monrovia got a massive performance out of Zach Oliphant, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Oliphant has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise.
