Basketball Game Preview: Akins Eagles vs. Lake Travis Cavaliers

Akins hasn't had much luck against Lake Travis recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Akins Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Lake Travis Cavaliers at 8:00 p.m.

Akins is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since December 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Bowie by a score of 53-51. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 235th).

Meanwhile, Lake Travis waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Chaparrals 67-50.

Lake Travis has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-16 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Akins, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
