Basketball Game Preview: Webb City Cardinals vs. Republic Tigers

Webb City hasn't had much luck against Republic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Webb City Cardinals take on the Republic Tigers at 6:45 p.m.

Last Monday, Webb City came up short against Kickapoo and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Chiefs are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Republic waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They secured a 50-45 W over the Falcons.

Republic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Webb City, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Webb City suffered a grim 51-28 defeat to Republic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Webb City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
