Basketball Recap: Stony Point Falls Despite Big Games from Megan Paulk and Kinnedy Funderburke

Stony Point suffered their closest loss since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Hutto Hippos by a score of 53-50. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hippos earlier this season, when they won 43-33.

Despite the defeat, Stony Point had strong showings from Kinnedy Funderburke, who posted 15 points, and Megan Paulk, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Paulk a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiyah Lewis, who put up five points and six rebounds.

With the loss, Stony Point broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-15. As for Hutto, their record is now 15-17.

Stony Point will face off against Round Rock Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hutto, they will square off against Vandegrift at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vandegrift will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Hutto surely won't give up without a fight.
