Volleyball Recap: Joppatowne Mariners vs. Perryville Panthers

Joppatowne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Perryville Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Joppatowne took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-12, 24-26, 25-9, 15-10.

Perryville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caitlyn O'Donnell, who had 23 digs and two aces. O'Donnell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Mya Wilker was another key player, getting eight blocks.

Joppatowne's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Perryville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Joppatowne will face off against Patterson Mill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perryville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Bohemia Manor on the 15th.
