Baseball Recap: Old Forge Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

There's no place like home for Old Forge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Honesdale Hornets a 4-0 shutout on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 back in April.

Old Forge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo DiMauro, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave DiMauro a new career-high.

Old Forge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Honesdale struck out 11 times.

Old Forge is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Honesdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Old Forge is set to take on their familiar foe Dunmore at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 2.9, the Bucks 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Honesdale will challenge rival Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
