Baseball Recap: Salesian Comes Up Short

Salesian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Dylan Binda was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Jonny Hyland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Salesian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Archbishop Stepinac, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

When Salesian and Archbishop Stepinac next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Eagles will try to stop Fordham Prep's four-game winning streak when they meet at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac will take on St. Joseph-by-the-Sea and their three-game winning streak at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.9, the Vikings 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
