Baseball Game Preview: Cross County Thunderbirds vs. Harrisburg Hornets

The Cross County Thunderbirds will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Harrisburg Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cross County is leaving town to face Harrisburg after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Cross County came up short against Palestine-Wheatley on Monday, falling 9-3. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost six in a row.

Parker Duncan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg hadn't done well against Westside recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Everything went Harrisburg's way against Westside as Harrisburg made off with a 7-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Cross County was able to grind out a solid victory over Harrisburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cross County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
