Baseball Game Preview: Simeon Wolverines vs. Bulls College Prep Bulls

The Simeon Wolverines will face off against the Bulls College Prep Bulls at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Simeon played against Hyde Park on Wednesday and won via forfeit.

Bulls College Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Thornton 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulls as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jeremiah Alvarado made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 16 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Bulls College Prep's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Alvarado was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ivan Perez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Angel Mejia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Simeon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bulls College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
