Basketball Recap: Mesa Ridge Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Palmer Ridge, Mesa Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Widefield Gladiators 52-49. This was a revenge game for the Grizzlies: when they faced off against the Gladiators back in January, they had to take a 43-30 defeat.

Quin Lewis was the offensive standout of the matchup as she posted eight points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (75%). Alivia Cain was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Widefield still got an impressive performance from Isabella Monk, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. Monk has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Solano, who put up four points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Mesa Ridge's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Widefield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Mesa Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-14 loss against Falcon on the 21st. As for Widefield, they have also already played their next game, a 67-35 victory against Harrison on the 22nd.
