Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Geneseo's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Geneseo barely beat Williamsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Maple Leafs were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Bullets on Friday. Considering the Maple Leafs have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaylee Brudos and Avery Kennedy did most of the damage at the plate: Brudos went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Kennedy went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Brudos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Penny Kline, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Geneseo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .630. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Geneseo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Williamsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Coincidentally, Geneseo and Williamsville will both be playing Washington the next time they take the field. The Maple Leafs will head out to face the Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bullets will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
