Basketball Game Preview: Amherst County Lancers vs. Rustburg Red Devils

The Amherst County Lancers will square off against the Rustburg Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amherst County is looking for their season's first win.

Last Friday, Amherst County opened the new year with a less-than-successful 61-49 loss to Charlottesville.

Holt Bresach put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Jackson, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, Rustburg lost to Liberty Christian at home by a 70-52 margin on Wednesday.

Rustburg's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Amherst County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Amherst County took a serious blow against Rustburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 77-50. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Amherst County was down 43-15.
