Softball Recap: Holmes County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Holmes County waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Abbeville Christian Academy Generals get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bri Adams was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacee Bowers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Alexia Bigham was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Holmes County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Holmes County is taking a road trip to face off against Dothan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Abbeville Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
