Baseball Recap: Sky View Bobcats vs. Mountain Crest Mustangs
Sky View extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the Mountain Crest Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Wednesday.
Chance Wilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Krew Knowles also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As for Mountain Crest, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.
On Mountain Crest's side, Kayden Cullimore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Cullimore has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Pearce, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
Sky View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain Crest, they are taking a road trip to face off against Payson at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
