Basketball Game Preview: Smithfield Sentinels vs. Johnston Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Smithfield Sentinels will get right back to it and host the Johnston Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Smithfield turned things around against Hope on Monday. They walked away with a 48-38 win over the Blue Wave.

Meanwhile, Johnston took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 56-28 victory over Cranston East. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Johnston's win came from a few key players Smithfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alanna Colon, who posted 24 points. Those 24 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annabella Gesauldi, who put up 15 points.

Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Everything went Smithfield's way against Johnston in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as Smithfield made off with a 55-31 win. Will Smithfield repeat their success, or does Johnston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
