Football Recap: Heppner Mustangs vs. Stanfield Tigers        
        
		
             Heppner got themselves on the board against Stanfield on Friday, but Stanfield never followed suit. They blew past the Stanfield Tigers, posting  a  62-0 victory on the road. That looming  62-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this  season.
 Heppner's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Alakae Rodriguez, who rushed for 57 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Rodriguez is  on a roll when it comes to  rushing touchdowns, as he's  now  punched in two or more in the last five games he's  played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was  Joseph Albitre, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
 He was just one part of a punishing run game: Heppner was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 319  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
 Heppner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as  Caylan Proudfoot,  Nickolas Wenberg,  and  Mason Orem picked up one apiece. Orem's posted a season-high passer rating of 177.1.
 Heppner's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Stanfield, they now  have a losing record at 2-3.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heppner will face off against Weston-McEwen/Griswold at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Heppner's defense has only allowed ten  points per game  this season, so Weston-McEwen/Griswold's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Stanfield, they will square off against Grant Union at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
