Basketball Recap: Makenzie Daubenmire's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Logan over Athens

Logan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 58-36 to the Athens Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 99th).

Logan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Daubenmire, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Daubenmire has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryann Landis, who put up ten points.

Athens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Banks led the charge by putting up 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Chapman, who earned 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Logan's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Athens, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Logan will host Lancaster at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-33 win against Vinton County on the 3rd.
