Softball Recap: Memphis Comes Up Short

Memphis extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-17. They lost 17-2 to the Oakland Christian Lancers. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Madison Evans was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Ella Bobcean also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Oakland Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Oakland Christian's side, they got a massive performance out of Rowan Klein, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Katherine Riches was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Memphis will host Capac at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chiefs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.61 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oakland Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Foley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ventures have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
