Baseball Game Preview: Malvern Hornets vs. Conotton Valley Rockets

The Malvern Hornets will take on the Conotton Valley Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Malvern was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson County Christian, taking the game 4-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conotton Valley). They blew past Southern 15-4 on Tuesday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Carson Milburn was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Zack Putnam was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Conotton Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Malvern's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Conotton Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Malvern might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Conotton Valley when the teams last played on Monday. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
