Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Steele Knights

Two dominant guards in Daryl Banks and Maurice Eddie are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Johnson Jaguars will take on the Steele Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Johnson sitting on three straight wins and Steele on five.

Johnson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Round Rock Westwood with a 52-47 victory.

Meanwhile, Steele was able to grind out a solid win over Harlingen on Friday, taking the game 63-52. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnson's record is now 28-9. As for Steele, their record now sits at 31-5.

Johnson came up short against Steele in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 50-44. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
