Softball Game Preview: Gladstone Gladiators vs. Madras White Buffaloes

For the second straight game, Gladstone will face off against Madras. The Gladiators will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the White Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. Gladstone's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Madras' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gladstone is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Madras with a sharp 18-1 win on Monday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Ashlynne Franssen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than 14 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Gladstone got a massive performance out of Maycee Terry, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that Terry scored this season. Natalee Marvin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Gladstone's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Madras, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
