Basketball Recap: Flagler Palm Coast's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It was fun while it lasted, but Flagler Palm Coast's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Tuesday. They took a 65-50 bruising from the Calvary Christian Academy Lions. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Flagler Palm Coast saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kierra Clark posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clark has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Works, who put up eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

It was another big night for Samantha Lecas, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals for Calvary Christian Academy. Lecas is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Keeva Heggins was another key player, going 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Flagler Palm Coast fell to 8-1. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Flagler Palm Coast and Rockledge will compete for holiday cheer at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Calvary Christian Academy Lions face off against the Pine Ridge Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
