Payson took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Manti, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Templars on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 7th.

Haven Jarvis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Myra Andrew, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Payson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Payson and bumps their season record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Manti, they now also have a losing record of 7-8.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-7 victory against Gunnison Valley on the 11th. As for Manti, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-6 loss against Salem Hills on the 11th.
