Softball Preview: Red Mesa Redskins vs. Fredonia Lynx

The Red Mesa Redskins are on the road again on Friday to play the Fredonia Lynx at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, Red Mesa made easy work of Northwest and carried off a 24-3 victory.

Meanwhile, Fredonia has not done well against St. Michael recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Fredonia blew past St. Michael 13-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for Fredonia.

Danni Waters made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Waters was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Fredonia got a massive performance out of Gracie Castor, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Emmie Tait, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Red Mesa's record now sits at 8-6. As for Fredonia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9-1 record this season.

Red Mesa might still be hurting after the 20-8 defeat they got from Fredonia when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Thankfully for Red Mesa, McKenna Grover (who went 4-for-4 with a home run, three stolen bases, and five runs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
