Recap: Newsome Wolves vs. Sumner Stingrays
The Newsome Wolves waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 44-38 win over Sumner. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Newsome also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Sumner's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Devin Baker, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds, and Isaiah Williams who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Karsten Walker, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Newsome's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Sumner, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newsome will face off against Brandon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Sumner, they will head out on the road to face off against Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Middleton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
